View Full Version : [General] Player Houses (Start Here)

Most player houses are pathetic, same goes for player towns, so why is it you're all convinced you can pull off a player world?

If you can't handle the mechanics of a player house, you probably won't get far on a server. (Tiling, Linking, Light Scripting) If you can't make your house interesting, nobody would play your server anyway.

Same goes for towns, if you can't pull together the content to make good town you aren't going to have enough for a basic server. (Quests, Shops, Houses, Social Activities, Jobs)

Since Lampshade doesn't seem to be working on Harmonia, I guess I'll clean my junk off of Testbed and encourage the newbs to start simple and hopefully develop some decent content.

What exactly are you getting at?

Really, what is the point of this thread?

talking about quality put into inside buildings and towns? stuff with content and not just space fillers with terribly tiled levels etc. Maybe.

Level Development, my levels started out crappy and symmetrical, they been getting a lot better since, I know tiling, linking, making towns look decent, I know simple/basic scripting..

I do believe I qualify for making towns and a playerworld..which I am doing in spare time...im not dedicating my life to it like some people do though so my playerworld probably wont see the light of day....

the only problem with haveing amazing towns that look amazing is that it would take forever to do every level as perfect as you possibly could.

I was poorly campaigning for bringing back testbed. Basically gather some of the noobs everybody's annoyed with and have them experiment with stuff on testbed. Try to get them to start with their own player house and then if they want to make a lot of stuff they can have whatever space they need without having to tackle a whole server themselves. Basically make them staff for each other. Would also keep the player count a bit more consistent since there could be a few people messing around and inviting friends on the same server.

there isn't a very big playercount though.

The original post confuses the fuck out of me. I imagine that's why it's no longer the topic of discussion.

I always wondered why every room had to use most of the level. Probably wouldn't make it so symmetrical if they didn't have way too much space to work with.

I'll take your oversized level with the peagreen carpeting and raise you this:

Looks a bit to cramped in that bar if you ask me. A lot of shit for a drunk person to walk into.

You're right, I should make round rooms to go in a square house!

How do you confuse a mental patient? Tell him to piss in the corner in a perfectly round room.
How does the mental patient confuse you? Tells you he did it.
