The story follows the title character, Haruhi Suzumiya (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haruhi_Suzumiya_%28character%29), a high school girl who can unconsciously change reality (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reality_warping), and her strange antics with her school club, the SOS Brigade, which she founded to investigate any mysterious happenings. Haruhi forcibly drafts her cynical classmate Kyon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyon) who narrates the series, and similarly recruits three additional members into her club: the silent bibliophile (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bibliophile) Yuki Nagato (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuki_Nagato), the shy and timid Mikuru Asahina (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikuru_Asahina), and the friendly "mysterious exchange student" Itsuki Koizumi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Itsuki_Koizumi). These members soon reveal themselves to Kyon as the extraordinary characters Haruhi is seeking, sent by their various organizations to observe her and hold her reality warping powers in check by maintaining the illusion of a normal life.

Not so fond of the real second series, 2~8 is roughly the same thing over again being in a time loop., then it becomes internal conspiracy theories.

Weird, the guidance counsouler laughed at me when I asked her if I could start a club to study paranormal investigations. I want an SOS Brigade for my school so hard.

Season 1 was good, but to really get a feel for it, you need to watch it in broadcast order and not chronological order. If you want it in chronological, the huge season climax is right in the middle. And all character tension is wiped clean, as if nothing happened.

Season 2 lost my interest about 4 episodes in. I'll stick to the novels.

skip episodes 2 - 8...all the comments are right...nothing but repeats with slight changes...episode 9 is where the timeloop ends..(thus the title, Endless EIGHT).(SPOILERS YAYS)
